THE ACADEMIC PROGRAM IN THE PRIMARY SECTION
This section of the curriculum is the backbone of formal learning for a child. It is during these years that, we at Universal, motivate a child to be increasingly curious and discover, on an individual basis, necessary information about the surrounding world. The key teaching and learning techniques as well as the subjects taught are listed below.
Support during learning but also encouragement to learn independently.
Sustained approach to basic competency building in academic and co-curricular activities.
Increased experimentation and exploration to answer the ‘whys’ and ‘hows’.
Improved oral communication by focusing on appropriate pronunciation and intonation.
Group projects that explore a specific topic culminating in ‘Anand Din’, an on stage performance which portrays the matter learnt in the form of dance, music or arts and crafts.
Life skills training to ensure that a child grows up in harmony with the requirements of an ever expanding world.
Academic subjects include English, Hindi, Mathematics, Science, Environmental Education, Computer Application and Social Studies. A third language is introduced in Standard IV.
Co-curricular exposures and experiences include music, dance, self defence, arts and crafts, information technology, yoga, indoor and outdoor sports
